FIFA's fitness tips for females - we're different from the boys!!

The number of females playing the beautiful game is growing faster than any other sport.  FIFA has data showing that in the last 
10 years, women’s participation in football has increased 
by 210% in the USA, by 250% in Switzerland and by 
160% in Germany. Other countries as well, so big rapid growth in the number of ladies putting on boots and hitting the field. Girls play too!! We already know that, but do you know that we often succumb to different types of injuries than the men, or our rehab needs might be different. How we heal is individual as well. Duh, our bodies are so different than men (uggh thank gawd - I kid, I kid...gotta love those men) it makes sense that we're gonna hurt and heal differently. Gagillions of dollars have gone into the research for men's health, while research for women lags significantly behind (grrrrr). Above is a link to a nicely done booklet on the health and fitness of the female player. It's definitely worth a read through at least once, and maybe to store on your desktop as a reference. Did you know we injure our knees more often than men? Why and how do we prevent it? There's a great section on stretches and exercises for injury prevention.  It's all in this booklet from FIFA. Be mindful of our bodies ladies - we'll be able to play longer and better, plus be able to walk upright when we're in our 80's.
